I recently completed a pretty indepth upstairs renovation. We transformed a laundry room into a guest bath and a bonus room into 2 bedrooms. My biggest obstacle was what to do with my laundry room. The result was really the only option I could think of that made sense...I moved the washer and dryer into a hallway closet. The key to the function of this design was the sliding glass doors that I found online at the Sliding Glass Door Co. and the custom shelves from local organization company. Without them I would have been stuck with tiny, cramped area full of wasted space with typical ugly bi-fold doors.

This house was a 1923 simple Italianate style that was so boring it was hardly noticeable when driving by. I painted a 2 layer 13 color waterstain using simple exterior paint. 1st layer was done with 5 shades of grey and moss green. The passer by's were very curious as to what I was doing. The progress looked quite awful. I designed and installed the hand poured cement walls/columns. The iron on the walls was forged to match the existing original iron skirting under the windows. Window canopies were existing I just painted them black and cream with exterior house paint after scrubbing and cleaning them.

I am naturally a bit messy so I wanted to create a closet that was highly organized and worked based on how I used things on an every day basis. The deep green color on the wall is the accent wall color in my bedroom and this closet sits right next to that wall so it worked out perfectly! I put a "closet within a closet" behind mirrored doors and hide stuff I don't use behind those doors. I put a stool in the closet so I can dress and undress (and put on my shoes in there. I really love the new space!

With storage and closet space a significant problem in my 3 bedroom home, I decided to turn my adjoining spare bedroom into a large walk in closet. I designed this floorplan as an open room so everything is in full view. I knocked out the partition wall between the 2 rooms and installed a tray celing to give more height. My goal was to build a space that was over the top and a focal point of the room. The design incorporates trapped doors behind the hanging clothes for additional storage. I designed and completed this project myself with a helping hand from my father.

Our "basic builder" bathroom previously consisted of a 5x8 space with your basic, boring white vanity, white tub, and white cheap-o tile, and boring wall paper. We were inspired by several of the bathrooms we saw on this website plus many HGTV shows that gave us the inspiration we needed. We wanted a contemporary spa feel with modern amenities. Although our space is small we took advantage of the high 9' ceiling by running the tile all the way to the ceiling and installing 4" recessed lighting. This really draws your eye up! We used 18x18 tiles on the wall, 6x6 on the shower floor, and a great 1" tile around the vanity and toilet. It's actually a mix of glass tile and slate. The vanity, sink, and faucet were purchased on-line and the mirror was cut locally to fit the exact space.
We are thrilled at the transformation and can't believe how much bigger our 5x8 space now appears!
ADDED INFO-- Thank you all for the kind comments, we are amazed at the feedback! Thank You! Several questions have been asked about the cost and materials, so here's the info....

VANITY-- It's a Decolav vanity (5510-ES that includes the sink. EveryVesselSink.com for $900
TILE-- All purchased at Expo (Isn't it a shame that they are all closing!. 1x1 Glass Tile/Slate were the most expensive of all of the materials! $32/sf. From Oceanside Glass Tile (glasstile.com it's Geologie High Desert. The 18x18 shower wall tile is from Daltile (5202 Golddust @ $2/sf. As part of our Master Suite renovation we converted our unused formal living room into a 12ft x 12ft walk in closet. Ten foot ceilings, soffits and crown molding are a bit much for a closet but it did come out great. We used an on-line closet company called Easy Closet and it worked out great. Look at the master bath conversion also posted under "LeeDock"

We are expecting our first child in August!! When remodeling a small guest bedroom into his nursery, we decided to leave the closet doors off and design a built-in wardrobe instead to help open up the space. We also added wainscoting to the room and a custom storage bench to match the wardrobe. Here's the finished product!

In the world of high tech, everyone wants a big screen Hd tv.Well we like our bigscreen projection tv just fine for now but wanted to make it look more modern. The first room we have decided to tackle in our 1950 Cape fixer is the media room.My husband is the guy I think can do it all and even though he has never made anything like this,I knew he could. We took out a full closet and set the bigscreen on a pedestal. He then built a cabinet around it and like magic, the back dissappeared and it has a new look. Please give us your imput. This is the first cabinet has ever made.Took about 4 weeks but we are pleased.Plus if he has some decent feedback,It just may give him the motivation to make me those kitchen cabinets I want. Thanks!!!!

I designed this remodel for a client whose daughter left home and she wanted to do something with her old bedroom. What better than to turn this unused space into every woman's dream space! Equipped with custom closet cabinetry and a mini-library, this is the perfect woman's getaway.
This room and closet remodel is an out of this world spaced themed room for my 4 year old son, Connor. He is big for his age and has a full sized bed and he needed some more room to play and wanted an office like Daddy. Closet was just recently remodeled and cost only @ $200. Used Valspar paint for celestial blue back wall and white side walls and trim. Desks and shelves were Target, assembly required. Purchased white and red patio chair at Lowe's for only $20. Sunburst mirror was purchased at Walmart, was brown but painted yellow and orange for sunburst affect. Additional details included a variey of do-it-yourself items, such as changing out and painting dresser knobs primary colors as well as unfinished wood letters for "Connor" over bed. Also used space themed wall decals and glow in the dark stars and planet on wall and ceiling. I also created a door sign "Planet Connor" trying to duplicate the "Planet Hollywood" logo from craft wood circle hand painted earth, stars and letters mounted on white painted 1/4 plywood.
