Our "basic builder" bathroom previously consisted of a 5x8 space with your basic, boring white vanity, white tub, and white cheap-o tile, and boring wall paper. We were inspired by several of the bathrooms we saw on this website plus many HGTV shows that gave us the inspiration we needed. We wanted a contemporary spa feel with modern amenities. Although our space is small we took advantage of the high 9' ceiling by running the tile all the way to the ceiling and installing 4" recessed lighting. This really draws your eye up! We used 18x18 tiles on the wall, 6x6 on the shower floor, and a great 1" tile around the vanity and toilet. It's actually a mix of glass tile and slate. The vanity, sink, and faucet were purchased on-line and the mirror was cut locally to fit the exact space.
We are thrilled at the transformation and can't believe how much bigger our 5x8 space now appears!
ADDED INFO-- Thank you all for the kind comments, we are amazed at the feedback! Thank You! Several questions have been asked about the cost and materials, so here's the info....
COST-- We loved the comment about estimating the cost at $40,000. Actually, it cost $8,000 for everything.
DESIGNER-- Someone asked if we hired a professional designer. Nope. We are addicted to HGTV and picked up lots of tips and ideas from the show (esp. Candice, Vern, Angelo and David Bromstad and this website. We purchased all of the materials ourselves. We did some of the work ourselves and hired a great contractor for the tough stuff.
FAUCET-- Purchased at ExpressDecor.com for $139
VANITY-- It's a Decolav vanity (5510-ES that includes the sink. EveryVesselSink.com for $900
TILE-- All purchased at Expo (Isn't it a shame that they are all closing!. 1x1 Glass Tile/Slate were the most expensive of all of the materials! $32/sf. From Oceanside Glass Tile (glasstile.com it's Geologie High Desert. The 18x18 shower wall tile is from Daltile (5202 Golddust @ $2/sf. The 6x6 shower floor tile is CTI Tile (Rex Shabui, Charcoal Black.

This small and challenging pentagonal home office was a collaborative refurnishing project with my husband. When we started, we didn't know how it would turn out and we are very happy with the end result.

We created a space that was urban and dramatic yet simultaneously warm and inviting. A flexible outdoor living room where we are equally comfortable entertaining 50 guests or 5 or just us unwinding in the hot tub or sipping a glass of wine and watching the sunset over the city. The incredible plexi panels were designed by Johnsen & Schmaling located here in Milwaukee WI.

We converted our 70's bathroom to an Asian inspired, comfortable place to relax. Features a slipper soaking tub, a steam shower and a flat screen to watch HGTV. No contractors, designers, or other professionals were used in the making of this remodel!
This was my master bath in one of the houses I flipped. Before the walls were peach with dark wood trim and hunter green tile with linoleum floor. Everything was redone from the chandeliers to the marble floor for under 1,000.

My little Deck & Patio. I was being cheap, couldn't afford to extend the patio, so I used step stones and rocks. The deck was built by my neighbor, we are planning on expanding it soon.

Before and After photos of our Ensuite Bath. This old and dingy space was remodeled from the ground up. The picture doesn't show it, but there was a rough 2x10 over the vanity that had a fluorescent light fixture. It was a very depressing room with cheap tile in the shower over a yellowing acrylic shower pan and a cheap door.
The new spa-like bath features a floating glass vanity with an opaque vessel sink and a framed mirror above. We built a custom shower with river pebble floor and travertine walls. A strip of pebble accent runs in the length of the bath floor and up on the wall in the shower. A rain showerhead and frameless glass door completes the shower which also features a recessed panel for bottles.
The bathroom has a door to a small balcony which used to be solid but by replacing it with an opaque glass french door it lets plenty natural light in the room but keeping it private.

We updated a late 80's bathroom which had a large jetted tub with tile surround that encompassed most of the bathroom. We used a free standing tub with floor mounted plumbing fixtures. The shower was enclosed and very claustrophobic. We opened it with frameless glass shower doors and beautiful tilework. The mirrors were updated by framing them and the countertops, plumbing and light fixtures were all updated.

This basement was empty and the clients desired a space that they could retreat to and entertain comfortably in. We reframed the basement to an open floor plan concept and added coffered ceilings in most rooms. The Southwestern color scheme was inspired as they used to live in New Mexico and loved the rich colors used out there. They are more transitional people so we used lots of clean lines and contemp elements to give the basement a clean but inviting feel

The 1980's tract home bathroom was gutted and completely made into a spa-like retreat. Replacing the GIANT jacuzzi tub with a more usable comfortable soaking tub made room for an amazing spa shower with body sprays, steam unit, rain head and bench. The vanity was custom built with drawers that organize make-up and jewelry to alleviate counter-top clutter. There is plenty of counter space and a single wider sink was installed. Brushed nickel hardware was used throughout including the 2 chandeliers and the wall scones. White Carrera Marble was used in and out of the shower in different forms including tumbled mosaics on the floor which is very comfortable on the feet.

In 2008 an extension was added to this small country home thus allowing the clients to redesign the main floor with a larger master suite, housing a separate vanity, and a bathroom filled with technology, elegance and luxury.
Although the existing space was acceptable, it did not reflect the charismatic character of the clients, and lacked breathing space.
By borrowing the ineffective space from their existing âentrance courtâ and removing all closets thus permitting for a private space to accommodate a large vanity with Jack and Jill sinks, a separate bathroom area housing a deep sculptural tub with air massage and hydrotherapy combination, set in a perfect symmetrical fashion to allow the beautiful views of the outdoor landscape, a thin 30â LCD TV, and incorporating a large niche wall for artful accessories and spa products, as well as a private entrance to the large well organized dressing room with a make-up counter. A peaceful, elegant yet highly functional on-suite was created by this young coupleâs dream of having a contemporary hotel chic palette inspired by their travels in Paris. Using the classic black and white color combination, a touch of glam, the warm natural color of cherry wood and the technology and innovation brought this retreat to a new level of relaxation.
