Ever since my dad and sister died, mom has been alone. This year, my husband and I drew a picture of what we needed to do with our home to accommodate my mom. We saw LaCatina doors on "the brothers" show and had them installed from the expanded living-room to the screened in porch. We removed the half wall in the kitchen, moved the laundry-room upstairs and
put in a first floor master bedroom and bathroom. Instead of a large retaining wall, he made two with 3ft span, so mom and I will can veggies from our 50ft garden. As a treat, he created a floor to ceiling stone front fire place with reclaimed oak, a beautiful place to sit in the evening.

We live in the middle of IN since we work in two cities. We bought this house a few years back and recently did our upstairs master suite and guest bathroom.
It was a tough challenge for us to not go too modern to clash with the house style as well as the area in case if we ever moved and wanted to sell our house.
Design was mostly by us and we worked with a very good young local contractor on this massive project.

We needed to change our 1970's red oak and white laminate modular kitchen to our concept that reflects and respects the houses modern architecture. We removed all of the cabinets, appliances, flooring and lighting plus relocated windows. New cabinets in a color called "smoke" with stainless hardware, granite countertops, glass backsplash, maple hardwood floors and the addition of cable and pendant lighting created this new look.

I purchased at auction, this 926 3rd floor condo in downtown Charlottesville. I completed repainted the inside, replaced the carpet in both bedrooms and had to buy fridge, microwave, and stove. It already had hardwood floors, granite counters in the kitchen and ceramic flooring in kitchen and both bathrooms. It's all done and I wanted to share my joy at how it turned out! All the best, Debbie Cash

We took a plain room and turned it into an extraordinary nursery for our son to enjoy for years to come. It's creative and we hope it inspires his imagination. All of the artwork was free-handed by my husband and painted by the both of us.

The favorite room in our home...the RED VELVET LOUNGE. This room started out as a very typical, not upgraded bonus room. It had cheap, mauve carpet, standard textured drywall in off-white and nothing else. When we bought the home, we put our old couches and TV and used it as a room for 'gaming' or just to get away.
When we remodeled our home, we debated on two options. The first was a full blown, dedicated theatre. The second was a bar with lots to do. We decided we'd get more use out of the bar scenario - given we enjoy entertaining and having a drink in an 'adult space' after a long day with active kids.
Born was my idea for the Red Velvet Lounge. Its a cross between a french Bordello and a men's smoking lounge, with a slight automotive theme (red + car memorabilia. I started by sitting down on my computer and architecting a space that could fit the most into the limited space we had. I managed to fit in a full bar, with back back (refrigerator, sink, ice bin and well, glass storage, etc., Liquor wall with TV and Dart Board, Pool Table, Custom raised "throne's", a floor-standing popcorn machine and a seated, racing simulator. Everything is clad in wood, red velvet damask wallpaper, and topped off with tin ceilings. The custom barstools and 'throne' chairs are covered in red, ostrich skin leather.
Hope you enjoy. We do.

This dated 1970's childhood home to them was a place where Mardi grew up and now took possession with her husband and children years later which was full of memories. They gave us the opportunity to transform this house to a masterpiece that they now have enjoyed for the past year.
This is a 3 story home in Irvine Turtle Rock area that has a magnificent view but unfortunately was blocked by 3 interior walls on the 1st floor. We removed all interior walls and install approx 5000 lbs of structural I-Beams that now hold the house up. The kitchen was in the middle of the house which was relocated to the opposite side giving it a larger kitchen area and opening up the house so when you walked in the door your eyes never stopped looking. Where once your eyes stopped at the wall when you walked in now carry out down the stairs through the room and off into the city lights. Every square inch of this home was remodeled 3 bathrooms, outside hard cape and soft cape. This house has the coolest railing that I designed. All the wood in the house is African mahogany and stained with 2 part golden oak and 1 part red mahogany with a semi gloss clear. The entire bathroom ceiling was raised from 7â6â to 10â4â to make it feel more spacious. Thanks a lot for taking the time to visit and appreciate your feedback.

We replaced the old flooring with new oak wood laminate, replaced the old dated light bar with new fixture, replaced counter top and back splash with a new granite one, painted the wall a softer natural color and finally refaced the cabinet in red oak with a light walnut stain and replaced the doors and drawer fronts we also replaced all of the drawer boxes and slides with new wood ones. We found and awesome company to help with the cabinet doors and refacing portion of the project, Taylor Cabinet Door.com assisted us in making sure we ordered the correct sizes and even prefinished the doors, drawer fronts and refacing materials to match.

My best friend of 25 years wanted me to help her redo her master bedroom. Her room was dark, cluttered and depressing. Ann is diagnosed Stage IV Breast Cancer. I wanted to redo her room for her giving her a "sanctuary" to retreat and rest. Ann wanted lots of bling and described it as Hollywood Glamour. She had not had a chest of drawers in 18 years! And the old ceiling light fixtures had gasped it's last a few years before. I had 3.5 days to start and finish the work before flying home to Tooele, Utah.

A 25 year old brickface wood fireplace, that was converted 5 years ago to a heavy duty gas fireplace. Not only did the brickface cover the fireplace, but it covered a 20 ft. ledge (bench? upon which sat the ugly red brick fireplace with a crazy hinged front that housed more audio visual controls than we ever needed. After living in the home 7 months, and falling for a beautiful mosaic glass/stone tile that went with our other long-time favorite, honey onyx, we got to work - ripped out the red brickface (easy reframed the fireplace, re-wired the tv that hangs above it (not so easy, hid all the tv controls behind a secret panel near the floor, and got a dynomite tile guy to install.

It's the real thing . . . right? Well, after 7 years of my Coca-cola kitchen and dining room, I was ready to say goodbye to the red!
Our remodel started over a year ago with a color change. I chose a gray/taupe for the kitchen and a yellow for the dining room. My inspiration came from a fabric I fell in love with for curtains, so I just went from there.
Painting helped immensely, but it would just serve to pacify me until I could get to the real renovation.
14 months later, we began a bigger reno.
We started with getting rid of the huge flourescent light down the center of the galley kitchen and replacing it with recessed lighting. Immediately a huge difference in the updated look of the 90's kitchen.
Next step was a cabinet addition. Since we could not afford to change the cabinets, we decided to use a section of wasted space and add a set of cabinets. We relocated the microwave from over the range to built in to that new section of cabinets along with two open shelves above for cookbooks. The lower section would add two small drawers and two large/deep drawers for pots and pans. This also gave me added counterspace.
Once the cabinet was installed, we could measure for countertops and backsplash. This was the most stressful part of the reno for me. I always considered my kitchen small in comparison to most, but we were told because of it's galley style, we had TWICE the countertop space of most kitchens! That meant more cost for countertops than I had anticipated! In the end, we were able to get a very reasonable deal on quartz by Silestone in the color Night Mist. It is a very dark gray with some flecks of white and lighter gray. I must say that I think it is my favorite part of the reno! I love my countertops!
As for the backsplash, I chose a glass tile design in the sheets from Home Depot. It has several shades of gray and black glass tiles mixed with a natural stone. I chose gray grout. It gave me such a contemporary look.
Last but not least, we got new stainless steel appliances. We chose Samsung for the refrigerator and range. I settled for the smooth top electric after I found out that it would be too expensive to run a gas line for a gas range. We replaced the OTR microwave with a nice stainless vent a hood and installed a stainless microwave in the new cabinet.
My last dilemma is choosing the best electrical outlet cover for the backsplash. Funny how on all the HGTV shows and pictures it NEVER shows the outlets on all these gorgeous backsplashes! I am currently using the white that I took down, but it just seems to drastic and jumps out at me. I would love stainless, but then what color outlet do you use underneath the stainless cover?
Please take a look at my pictures and I would love your advice on the outlet covers!
In all, this renovation cost us about $10,000. I think that in the long run, should we decide to sell our house, it will definitely make it more appealing to buyers and it will be well worth it!

As part of our whole-house remodel, we turned 2 existing bedrooms into home offices. We removed the carpeting to expose and stain the concrete floors. We painted the rooms and installed new rust-colored curtains, as well as trim at the ceiling perimeter. We assembled the furniture from IKEA and other office-supply sources, and finished the rooms off with area rugs for a warm touch.

I went from asian to contemporary in my dining room. The rug is gray with a white, orange, red circle. The furniture is black. The back wall has black/white flower pictures and at each end of the room is lots of color with fiesta trivets and other vases. The white shelves were purshased from ikea. I chose black/white curtains because color would be on each side and because the opposite end of the room is a large black cabinet. I chose the chandelier because is was contemporary and dressy all in one. I chose the large blue print for another wall that had some black, brown and white. The walls are a blue/gray and the ceiling was painted the lightest shade of blue on the paint samples I had. I love my new dining room!
