  • New Closet, With storage and closet space a significant problem in my 3 bedroom home, I decided to turn my adjoining spare bedroom into a large walk in closet. I designed this floorplan as an open room so everything is in full view. I knocked out the partition wall between the 2 rooms and installed a tray celing to give more height. My goal was to build a space that was over the top and a focal point of the room. The design incorporates trapped doors behind the hanging clothes for additional storage. I designed and completed this project myself with a helping hand from my father. , Closets & Utility

  • Comfy Cozy Living Room, This home was built in the 80's...hence the field stone fireplace. I love the colors in the stone so we've decided to design the room around it. I recently painted the wall in Toffee Crunch by Behr. I am a huge Candice Olson fan so I made the curtains inspired from one of her shows. My husband and I made the red ultrasuede bench to protect the little ones from the fireplace. We are going to build a mantle within the next month or so and put a flat screen TV above the fireplace. , Living Spaces

  • St. Vincent de Gore Theater, Garage space converted into a home theater. We did it all from walls out, including the design of the 'rock' walls. Backstory for the room is that it is a converted dungeon, hence the NeoGoth look, and the name comes from our mutual fondness for Vincent Price and going to the local St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores as children., Home Theaters

  • Ferguson Remodel 2012, Our house was built 30 years ago and the rooms were small. We had a U shaped kitchen that opened up to the dining room. There was a small opening in the wall to the small living room. We demolished the wall between the living room and the kitchen. We also demolished the "pony wall" between the dining room, and overlooking the entry, we replaced the pony wall with posts and rod iron rail, for a more open feel. We added an island with a breakfast bar. The new walnut cabinets were completely re-configured for maximum effienciency. We refaced the fireplace and installed Brazilian Cherry Hardwood in the entie space. We added island lights and flush mount pot lights. , Kitchens

  • Bungalow Blues Living Room, Our living room was in desperate need of color. More-so decorating a blank canvas than a remodel, we started with finding the perfect paint color. Once the walls were splashed with blue, we added whites to create some lightness against the darker walls. We added some complimentary orange accents, a strong chevron rug, and other small accessories to finish it off., Living Spaces

  • Budget Living Room Remodel, A few months back I decided to give my living room a complete makeover, something it has needed since we moved in almost seven years ago. Since we don't have alot of extra money I knew I was going to have to do some serious bargain shopping and that my husband and I were going to have to take on some challenging DIY projects that we were definitely skeptical about, but our minds were made up and we were going through with it, there was no turning back.

Three and a half months later our living room transformation was complete.I a™m pleased to announce that my husband and I successfully installed crown moulding, put up wainscot paneling and built a fireplace overmantle in our living room all for $300.00. In addition, we were able to find all of the furniture and decorative accents to furnish the entire living room for $2,931.

For $3,331 we were able to give our Living Room a Complete Makeover.

  • Sante Fe upgrade, Sante Fe in need of updating
Just purchased 3000sq foot Sante Fe. Limited budget. Outside is fine but inside is dated. Don't judge a book by its cover the is house has a wonderful feel and setting. Floor seems to be the largest issue. Our initial thought was to raise the sunken living area to make the house all one level. We have a quote on using travertine tile throughout the whole 3000 square feet. We have considered engineered wood floor. The floor alone will change the look dramatically. The wall colour is an ivory and was recently painted. We are ok with the colour but would consider repainting for effect. The cupboards and wood work pose problems as the colour is somewhat yellow although the cabinets are in okay shape. Do I need to replace them? Fireplace we thought could use a mantle. Question is how far to go with the reno? Here is a link to the property. Here is the slideshow. You can pause at any photo. Thanks
