I tell my husband almost everyday how much I love my new kitchen - which he "built" for me! I had the typical 60's or 70's kitchen which only had enough space for one cook and where you felt isolated from the rest of the home. We demolished a cinder block wall that kept me divided and lonely from the dining/living area and created this fabulous Great Room. Now, when we have gatherings, everyone always sits around the huge island in the center. Couldn't be more thrilled!!!!!

I love sitting in my living room. People have referred to it as warm cozy inviting etc. I attribute it to the generous amount of wood (mahogany ebony Brazilian cherry American cherry used and the natural stone fireplace.

Over the last year, I transformed a strip of grass and a narrow pathway in the front of my house into a beautiful courtyard with a bronze gate, tiled patios an outdoor fireplace and a Koi pond. No I don't do this for a living, but I am open to any job opportunities. HGTV are you listening?.

This entry and living room was a bit outdated and the carpet in the main thoroughfare had to go! Why builders put carpet in a high traffic area I'll never understand-oh yeah it's cheaper! Everything is new including tile paint artworkall new furniture accessoriesand a revamped fireplace.

With storage and closet space a significant problem in my 3 bedroom home, I decided to turn my adjoining spare bedroom into a large walk in closet. I designed this floorplan as an open room so everything is in full view. I knocked out the partition wall between the 2 rooms and installed a tray celing to give more height. My goal was to build a space that was over the top and a focal point of the room. The design incorporates trapped doors behind the hanging clothes for additional storage. I designed and completed this project myself with a helping hand from my father.

Old on the outside, new on the inside: 1884 rowhouse in a city neighborhood, updated on a budget with simple materials and lots of DIY. It's a small home, but high ceilings and plenty of built-ins make it feel open and comfortable. I've kept things pretty neutral because I like to change the feeling of the space with fresh ART...

It's a good thing RMS doesn't have smellevision! This dated house was occupied by tenants for many years, and needed to be totally rennovated from floor to ceiling before putting it on the market. We removed the 70's railing, scraped the popcorn celings, retextured the walls before painting, added crown moulding, new wood floors, gave the fireplace a complete makeover, and really changed the whole feel of the house by opening up a wall with an archway. We couldn't be more thrilled as it sold the same day, with 15 offers and for $55k over asking price! We're still in shock!

This home was built in the 80's...hence the field stone fireplace. I love the colors in the stone so we've decided to design the room around it. I recently painted the wall in Toffee Crunch by Behr. I am a huge Candice Olson fan so I made the curtains inspired from one of her shows. My husband and I made the red ultrasuede bench to protect the little ones from the fireplace. We are going to build a mantle within the next month or so and put a flat screen TV above the fireplace.

A remodeled 80's kitchen. We replaced the window, made much larger to enjoy the view, replaced old floor tile with cypress flooring and removed a couple of walls to make area larger. The old cabinets were replaced, new appliances and new lighting. The island is two old Eastern Airline ticket booths and the top of an old drafting table, the island is not completely finished. The walls are bead-board painted with black milk paint. The ceiling is covered with recycled cedar paneling from downstairs. The design was done by myself, no fancy designers... hope I made no serious mistakes!! Let me know what ya think.

Great Room that is also the dining room. It's a great example of mid century modern architecture and I tried to incorporate some classic mcm pieces and design in a modern room so it didn't seem themey.

Historic 1920's home makeover. This old space got a new look while still keeping with the intergrity of it's heritage. The fireplace, spanish texture, coved ceilings and windows are all original to the home. While the furnishings are new they still have that vintage feel.
