  • Romantic historic Italian faux villa, This house was a 1923 simple Italianate style that was so boring it was hardly noticeable when driving by. I painted a 2 layer 13 color waterstain using simple exterior paint. 1st layer was done with 5 shades of grey and moss green. The passer by's were very curious as to what I was doing. The progress looked quite awful. I designed and installed the hand poured cement walls/columns. The iron on the walls was forged to match the existing original iron skirting under the windows. Window canopies were existing I just painted them black and cream with exterior house paint after scrubbing and cleaning them., Home Exteriors

  • New Closet, With storage and closet space a significant problem in my 3 bedroom home, I decided to turn my adjoining spare bedroom into a large walk in closet. I designed this floorplan as an open room so everything is in full view. I knocked out the partition wall between the 2 rooms and installed a tray celing to give more height. My goal was to build a space that was over the top and a focal point of the room. The design incorporates trapped doors behind the hanging clothes for additional storage. I designed and completed this project myself with a helping hand from my father. , Closets & Utility

  • Disasterous2Glamorous-Living/Dining B&A, It's a good thing RMS doesn't have smellevision! This dated house was occupied by tenants for many years, and needed to be totally rennovated from floor to ceiling before putting it on the market. We removed the 70's railing, scraped the popcorn celings, retextured the walls before painting, added crown moulding, new wood floors, gave the fireplace a complete makeover, and really changed the whole feel of the house by opening up a wall with an archway. We couldn't be more thrilled as it sold the same day, with 15 offers and for $55k over asking price! We're still in shock!, Living Spaces

  • Formal Living Room to Master Walk-in Conversion, As part of our Master Suite renovation we converted our unused formal living room into a 12ft x 12ft walk in closet. Ten foot ceilings, soffits and crown molding are a bit much for a closet but it did come out great. We used an on-line closet company called Easy Closet and it worked out great. • Serene TV room, We wanted to create a comfortable, cheery and outdoor feel for our TV Room. This room was originally a Bedroom and we took out the closet and turned it into our TV Room. I added Crown Molding. All the photos hung around the room are from our garden or gardens we have visited on our travels. We collect old cameras and I built some display boxes for them. • Updated master bedroom suite with fireplace, We recently updated our master bedroom. My husband tore out the existing ceiling and put in a coffered ceiling to give the room an illusion of more size. He built bookcases and cabinetry to showcase the addition of a fireplace. With the addition of elegant lighting and draperies the room has exceeded our expectations. We decorated the room using a monochromatic theme to give it a warm and comfortable "hotel suite" feel. , Bedrooms

  • Updated from white on white to a kitchen I like to cook in., Original kitchen was the 1966 white laminate with plastic drawers, metal edge laminate tops, sheet flooring over glue down VCT. In a 1,200 sq. ft. home I needed to open the kitchen up to make it feel larger and I was able to do this by lowering the wall between the kitchen and living room to 40" and creating a seating area. Lack of lighting while I cook drives me nuts so I have 600 watts of adjustable lighting now. Very important to me to do the 30" deep cabinet over the refridgerator with a side panel as I see to many $20,000 kitchens that the fridge sticks out, no need for this. Tile installed diagonally for nice look, contrary to what installers tell us this cost no more to do. All work completed by myself., Kitchens
