This is our kitchen renovation from a house that we bought in 2011. This house is a duplex and was actually being used as dental office in one side and medical office on the other side. My husband and I did all the renovation by ourselves within a very short budget and lots of creativity. We used many pieces found in 2nd hand stores and sometimes even junk yards - turned into beautiful customized items.

I needed to keep my same basic footprint and my appliances were a couple years old and I didn't want to replace them. I did purchase a new stovetop and wine refrigerator. I also kept my same floor which is throughout most of the house and removed the soffits and retextured ceiling and changed the lighting.I did splurge on the quartz countertops, glass tile, travertine backsplash and Grohe faucet.

My boyfriend recently finished remodeling the original kitchen in our 1939 cottage - and, except for a little help from me, he DID IT ALL BY HIMSELF. From building the cabinets (and drawer pulls! to pouring and installing the concrete counters, installing the new beadboard ceiling, new cork flooring, Honey Onyx Marble tile backsplash (I did that! and cork floor, as well as all of the plumbing and electrical - he did it all!

Took a plain backyard with a boring deck and did a complete makeover with a lagoon style pool complete with diving rock, stamped concrete and cozy fire pit. For entertaining, a tall cedar pergola was added with graceful arches and a natural gas heater for year-round use. An outdoor kitchen was added, featuring a copper range hood, natural gas grill and a slate counter top. The project was finished with contemporary landscaping using native rock and lighting. A bluetooth enabled sound system is built-in to the pergola, guests can connect using their smart phone for instant music for impromptu gatherings. The makeover has completely transformed the backyard which is now the perfect place for birthday parties, casual entertaining or just sitting and enjoying the view.

Nothing had been done to these 1985 Bathrooms; oak cabinets, pearl-colored counters with sea shell-shaped sinks, beige walls, large medicine cabinets that got in your way, and way too many light bulbs above the mirror.

We removed all the carpeting to expose and stain the concrete floor underneath. We painted everything warm Earth tones, including the fireplace brick to give it a fresh, updated look. We designed and built much of our own custom furniture from stock wood material, and ordered the rest for assembly. We added the green wood strips on the ceiling for interest as well as the wall soffit shelves with LED indirect lighting.

As part of our whole-house remodel, we turned 2 existing bedrooms into home offices. We removed the carpeting to expose and stain the concrete floors. We painted the rooms and installed new rust-colored curtains, as well as trim at the ceiling perimeter. We assembled the furniture from IKEA and other office-supply sources, and finished the rooms off with area rugs for a warm touch.

As part of a total, overall home remodel, the Master Bedroom has its own character while maintaining design continuity with the rest of the house. On a very small budget, we did almost all the work ourselves, including removing existing carpet to expose & stain the concrete floor, removing existing plastic blinds, repainting with an accent color, and designing/building all of the furniture!

Very small budget. We did almost all the work ourselves, including design and building the barstool, table/chairs and bench. We painted existing cabinets and added new cabinets and quartz countertops (no granite!! with wine rack for extra space and storage. It's part of an overall total house remodel, so we maintained the exposed, stained concrete floors throughout (very easy to clean. Cheerful, Earthtone colors with accent match the rest of the house. We just wanted it to look less "Kitcheny".

Our tired and bleached out house exterior got a little lift this summer. With a little paint and elbow grease we turned boring into car-stopping fabulous! Cars actually did stop to look... We painted the front door a rich cranberry red, the trim was painted a high gloss white, the shutters were painted a shiny black, and the concrete stoop got a coat of dark gray concrete stain with the wet look seal. We also got new door hardware, doorbell, and led lights. But that's it! Everything cost around $500 and was done in one weekend. The hardware was selling for over $200 at my local hardware store, but I got it on eBay for $60!

This remodel focuses on bringing a spa feeling to the home. We achieved this by using the POJJO Vanity Valet Secret to create space to efficiently store and use all hair appliances. This system allows the client to heat and cool down their flat irons and curling irons inside unused space...without sacrificing any cabinet room. www.pojjo.com

This past winter we completed a kitchen addition with doors that opened out into mud : We've spent the last few weeks redoing our back yard.
The project included large boulders being brought in, new decks and bridges, dry stream bed, sprinkler systems, lighting, a fountain on the patio, concrete patio, new beds and plantings.
All in all we're really happy with the space. We already had a nice canopy of mature trees and in a few years, the new beds should fill in nicely.
We were inspired for this project by our love of the Portland Japanese Gardens. The foliage and simple lines seem to compliment nicely with northwest design.

We purchased our outdated 1964 home 10 years ago and have been remodeling it slowly. We recently finished the kitchen/laundry addition. One of the main drawbacks of our home was the fact that there was no laundry room. The washer and dryer were previously located in a small closet off of the main hallway.
After much thought, we decided to include the washer/dryer in the new kitchen area. We'd seen this many times in European homes and decided it would be a good fit for us as well. So far, I've really enjoyed it. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it has been really handy! Also the high counter tops over the washer/dryer makes a great buffet area, easily accessible to the patio area (coming soon...
By far, the most difficult item for me to pick out was the counter tops. I really love the look of cement but was nervous to use it because it's not as durable. After months of looking at different materials we finally decided on quartz counter tops by Caesarstone in Raven. Hard to tell in the photos, but it's a very soft black/deep gray. We went with stained concrete for my table though and I absolutely LOVE it! In fact, it's my favorite part of the kitchen!
I've spent countless hours both watching HGTV and browsing here on the website getting ideas for the remodel. RATE MY SPACE was the source of much inspiration and I've been looking forward to finally adding my own photos to it :
Our goal was to create a warm, cozy kitchen area that all four of us could enjoy. Used warm colors to help counter the LONG, gray Oregon days. We're happy with the results!
Thanks for taking a look :
