  • Whistle while you work..., This multipurpose room is seen directly from our small galley kitchen. As the kitchen has an elegant wine bar feel we tried to make this laundry/utility room feel more like an old world pantry. The dry good jars are real space savers but don't let the bagettes fool you - they’re fake! Baskets hold everything: detergent first aid aprons light bulbs extension cords etc. We leave the door open more often now which makes the kitchen feel like it has a bit more square footage., Closets & Utility

  • Northwest Contemporary Kitchen Remodel, We purchased our outdated 1964 home 10 years ago and have been remodeling it slowly. We recently finished the kitchen/laundry addition. One of the main drawbacks of our home was the fact that there was no laundry room. The washer and dryer were previously located in a small closet off of the main hallway.

After much thought, we decided to include the washer/dryer in the new kitchen area. We'd seen this many times in European homes and decided it would be a good fit for us as well. So far, I've really enjoyed it. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and it has been really handy! Also the high counter tops over the washer/dryer makes a great buffet area, easily accessible to the patio area (coming soon...)

By far, the most difficult item for me to pick out was the counter tops. I really love the look of cement but was nervous to use it because it's not as durable. After months of looking at different materials we finally decided on quartz counter tops by Caesarstone in Raven. Hard to tell in the photos, but it's a very soft black/deep gray. We went with stained concrete for my table though and I absolutely LOVE it! In fact, it's my favorite part of the kitchen!

I've spent countless hours both watching HGTV and browsing here on the website getting ideas for the remodel. RATE MY SPACE was the source of much inspiration and I've been looking forward to finally adding my own photos to it :)

Our goal was to create a warm, cozy kitchen area that all four of us could enjoy. Used warm colors to help counter the LONG, gray Oregon days. We're happy with the results!

Thanks for taking a look :)

  • Round Table Dining Room, I have always loved round dining tables, and when I found this large round table at Crate and Barrel, I knew it would be perfect for our space. We have a really nice view out the back of our home, so we have opened up several walls to maximize that. Now we have a very open space that is wonderful for entertaining, which is helpful since we have 6 children and 8 grandchildren! I also love the light fixture which I purchased at ZGallerie (I love that store!). The chairs are white leather from Crate and Barrel. We put the granite bar in to gain more seating. When my family is all together (which is often) there are 20 of us! With my kitchen table, large bar, and dining table and bar we can seat 21...room for a guest! I know my style isn't for everyone but I really like it. : ), Dining Rooms

  • Kitchen Makover Revolutionized, We moved into this 80's home that needs a bit of updating. The old kitchen space was closed off and uninviting with old cabinets and dated appliances in a galley kitchen thats a little on the small side. After 3 weeks, we have a space thats more modern, functional can entertain in. By opening up our island/bar area, it makes it transition better to the family room and more buffet spaces for family functions. Best of all, it was affordable since it is a DIY project. Decor will be added later....~Project was done under 10g with new appliances included., Kitchens

  • Pool & Pergola, Took a plain backyard with a boring deck and did a complete makeover with a lagoon style pool complete with diving rock, stamped concrete and cozy fire pit. For entertaining, a tall cedar pergola was added with graceful arches and a natural gas heater for year-round use. An outdoor kitchen was added, featuring a copper range hood, natural gas grill and a slate counter top. The project was finished with contemporary landscaping using native rock and lighting. A bluetooth enabled sound system is built-in to the pergola, guests can connect using their smart phone for instant music for impromptu gatherings. The makeover has completely transformed the backyard which is now the perfect place for birthday parties, casual entertaining or just sitting and enjoying the view., Outdoor Spaces

  • Nature themed nursury for a baby girl, Before our first child was born, we committed to a bedroom/bathroom renovation. The only bathroom on the first floor had to be accessed through the bedroom, which wouldn't do. In the baby's room, we hired a contractor to move the door, construct a new wall, replace windows, remove sliding glass doors, and install new lighting. For the decor, we chose cheerful colors of lavender and green with plenty of white and dark brown for contrast. The decor has a woodland flair with trees and creatures of the forest., Bedrooms
