About This Remodel

It's a good thing RMS doesn't have smellevision! This dated house was occupied by tenants for many years, and needed to be totally rennovated from floor to ceiling before putting it on the market. We removed the 70's railing,scraped the popcorn celings,retextured the walls before painting,added crown moulding,new wood floors,gave the fireplace a complete makeover,and really changed the whole feel of the house by opening up a wall with an archway. We couldn't be more thrilled as it sold the same day,with 15 offers and for $55k over asking price! We're still in shock!

I enjoyed looking at this space. The before and after ... the look is more art deco than glamor. I wonder about the placement of the love set the angle of it. Over all it is a very beautiful room. Loved it!

Thank you deckr8r for the kind words and sharing your story. I do always leave only positive comments on the spaces I rate. I think, unfortunately, many on here didn't learn that if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. It's fine to give someone a helpful critique, but those who rip others to shreds is so uncalled for. It saddens me that some have left the site because of it as this is such a wonderful place for ideas.

consider ya know. I cried many nights as to how wed do it. sold home sold furniture in it as well as anything i could do to make more money to pay the store debt. i finally got so burned out i had to call it quits. I found a new tenant for the space i rented so I could get out of lease i continued working cleaning and consulting for 2 yrs. to pay my debts. Never bankrupt, wouldnt do that! anyway we then had a injury in our home that required surgeries and more to this day still struggle but do appreciate my home and what we have I find pleasure posting as i know someone out there has a tiny budget as I and can appreciate my home yet ya know how they can get on here Faceless cowards anyway. Hi Perri again I just viewed your "about me" I think ya either have a knack or ya dont. Its got to be in you. Thus you proved that. I too always did work on family freinds and neighbors at every budget tiny, small or limitless. After yrs of this and cleaning homes which I still do, (decorated many of those clients homes as well I got the courage to open a store. I offered Chicagoland items (things we didnt have around here in Wisconsin in retro metropolitan and so on I figure ya gotta have a nitch to get people in the door. anyway I picked up so many decorating help me clients I started to consult as well. In the meantime i couldnt leave my home cleans of several yrs.(like family, watching the children grow up I had my husband watch the store on his weekends while I cleaned I ran the store and consulted nights. I worked so hard and then 9/11. after that sales dipped. rent went up with new owner of space rented and I struggled. I kept plugging along had a lease to

Hi Perri - I've been drowling over your spaces all day and must say that you do a fabulous job for your clients! I do have a question about this open area... I have an open living/kitchen area and I was wondering if the walls in this space are all the same color or different shades? If so, do you know what color because it goes fabulous with the floors. Thanks for posting all your spaces - I'm going to have to look them over AGAIN! :
