My wife and I have now rennovated two of our 3 floors in our 100 year old DC row home in capital hill. The lower unit being an english basement so that way we can rent it out to a tenant and then the upper two floors for us. We have redone everything from the foundation up and it has been one crazy rennovation. It was like open heart surgery on our house... we never knew what we were going to find behind those old walls. Sometimes it came with cheers and sometimes it came with limitless headaches. BUT! we have fixed and replaced everything the proper way. No corners were cut... and let me tell you, its hard to fix where other people thought they could cut corners... so don't do it. its not worth the future headaches. Go watch Holmes inspection to find out why.
