  • Forclosure Closure, Finally finished updating the kitchen in our foreclosure we purchased nearly 3 years ago. All work done by myself. Total cost under $400 minus our microwave which we installed after moving in. countertops were white corian with blue specks so I did not change them because they were the one thing I liked!, Kitchens

  • Kitchen remodel on a budget, We remodeled the kitchen in our 1960's ranch on a budget. We painted the original knotty pine cabinets with rustoleum's cabinet transformations kit and had butcher block countertops from ikea installed. We also had an ikea farmhouse sink installed and changed the electric stovetop to a gas frigidaire gallery stove and we had a dishwasher installed. The original linoleum floors were replaced with ceramic tile., Kitchens

  • Flash of color, Not having a lot of money for remodeling, I used paint, inexpensive cabinets and plywood to give my kitchen/dining area a new look. I removed the wall that stood where the bar is now. The bar top and countertop is madefrom plywood and trimmed in with a one inch piece of trim wood. I removed a window and replaced with a patio door. The color scheme matches my living room. I drew the design on the walls and painted with four different colors. For me it is bright and uplifting and affordable. I also added pictures of the living room., Kitchens

  • KY Condo Kitchen Redo on a Small Budget, We downgraded to a condo about 18 months ago. We had little money left in our budget after the other room remodeling projects were finished to attack the inefficient kitchen and dining room.

Our goal was to incorporate a warm and cozy feel with better function, flow, and storage. It is nice to have room, now, that my husband and I can both be in the kitchen working at the same time.

We were able to keep most of the builders grade cabinets and add more of them (still sold by HD/Lowes) to supplement what was lacking for needed storage. We painted the cabinets and added crown molding to the top. Cabinet paint color is Olympic One - Toasted Almond (I am still not sure if I want to glaze them or not.) Walls are Valspar- Hot Stone. The island paint colors are as follows: The lighter color is Valspar - Granite Falls; and dark color is Valspar - Shimmering Sea. Plate rack is also painted Shimmering Sea and purchased from EBAY. Island purchased online at Overstock.com. The island stools came from Target.com. Counter tops are formica. The kitchen table and chairs are patio furniture from Walmart.

I designed the space. We had a contractor remove a wall, remove the pantry, reposition the plumbing/HVAC, install the flooring, and install the new cabinets we had to purchase mostly for the dining room. Contractor also painted the walls. The rest we did ourselves.

I feel that we achieved our goal, thank you for your comments, and taking the time to look at our finished results.
