  • Dream Kitchens, Remodeling your kitchen is usually a big deal for you and your family, our designer will work with you to identify your style, desire, and needs to design a kitchen that uniquely expresses your family. We do anything from Traditional kitchens that have a formal, elegant look characteristic of American and European homes of the 18th, 19th and early 20th centuries to Contemporary kitchens that tend to be described more as a modern, minimalist or geometric. The characteristics include horizontal lines, asymmetry and a lack of molding and other ornamentation. Materials often are: stainless steel, laminate, frosted glass inserts, concrete, linoleum, chrome and lacquer., Kitchens

  • Updated kitchen within same footprint, Our home was built in 2003, and the before pictures show the builder's grade options. We had Corian counter tops and an island with a breakfast bar. We enjoyed this galley kitchen and it fit our needs when it came to just cooking for ourselves. Five years ago we started to hold charity dinners in our home, and the counter top space and our range (Kitchenaid gas 4-burner stovetop/electric oven and a joke of an exhaust fan) started to not fit our needs.

We decided that we needed an update, but it had to work in our existing space. We liked the general area where things were located - we did not want to do an extensive move of gas lines or plumbing.

In Fall 2011, we completed this kitchen renovation that revolved around a new range centered in the kitchen. It is a BlueStar 48" range with six burners and a grill and dual ovens. We also added a Vent-a-Hood exhaust fan. We kept our existing dishwasher and refrigerator (both KitchenAid Architect Series design) since they both worked fine and still fit with our overall design. The microwave is a Panasonic with Inverter technology. We chose the BlueStar range because we wanted nearly restaurant quality BTU gas output from a residential model range.

We expanded the island to over double its width and lowered it to be a single level for more work surface space. We also added cabinets with pull out shelves to the island to expand our storage space.

Since we still liked our cabinets, we stuck with the same style and were able to keep some of them. The excess were still in great condition, so they were donated to our local Habitat for Humanity ReStore. Our old range and microwave we practically donated to someone who was trying to complete their own kitchen renovation, but hit hard times financially. The true waste from the project was disposal of the old backsplash and counter tops.

The mixed media tile/stone/glass backsplash is from Lowe's; for the entire kitchen we used two slabs of "Ooba Tooba" granite; the pendant lights over the island were from Home Depot and we upgraded the under cabinet lighting from spots to a track system. The garbage disposal in the island sink is activated by a push button and is flush with the counter top.

Over two years later and we still love our kitchen! We feel it is homey enough to not be intimidating, but provide the functionality needed when we do restaurant-style cooking as well as have space for guests to socialize and be put to work!!, Kitchens
