About This Remodel

The house was built in 1956 and we moved in just under a year ago. This full bathroom is on the main living floor; there is a full master bath downstairs. All tile and fixtures are original; all we changed was the wall color and added the accessories. Before the yellow the room felt cold and cavernous. Not any more!

I love the carpet. Where did you get it. I just purchased my home one year ago, and the previous owners loved brown. my tiles are dark brown. Any suggestions on what color to paint the wall? I am not afraid of color at all.

wonder bathroom!!! I love the yellow and grey combo. I have to say that I am so jealous that you got such great grey tile. Looks like you might be in a Doelger home. I just remodeled my parents' guest bath in their Daly City Doelger home. We unfortunately had teal and cantaloupe tile what was cracked from previous owners. We ended up removing the door to the old master and reconfiguring the space be they too had added a new master bedroom. Once again... great job!

Hi macc60 -I wish I could answer your light fixture questions but it came with the house and probably dates to the late 1950's! I don't know what the bulb situation is as we have yet to take it down... we considered doing it when we painted but decided not to as it didn't look so easy. There may come a time when we decide to update it so at that point it could be yours!

What kind of light fixture do you have above the sink? Is it a fluoroscent tube with a cover? We have a very bright fluoroscent tube light above our sink and I hate it but love the look of your fixture? Where did you get it?

That door is a second door that leads to one room - we think once upon a time it was the main bedroom but 2 owners prior to us created a master suite downstairs so now this second door is unnecessary and actually makes one feel a little insecure in the bathroom...

Love the room and especially that it hasn't lost its vintage mid-century soul. Hard to find anything critical to say about it. The Saarinen table is great but what's that door it's blocking?
